What software does the xTool Apparel Printer Plus use?
The current Apparel Printer Plus workflow uses xTool Studio. After completing the printer's physical setup and LCD beginner guide, connect the printer to a computer via USB, install xTool Studio, complete first-time calibration, assign DTF parameters to your artwork, preview the design on a garment mockup and send the job to print.
Before Connecting the Apparel Printer Plus to xTool Studio
xTool requires two setup stages to be completed before the printer is operated through Studio:
- Complete the physical Apparel Printer Plus hardware setup.
- Complete the beginner's guide shown on the printer's LCD control panel.
The official Plus user guide also walks through loading film, filling ink and moisturizing liquid, installing the humidity module, preparing its water tank and connecting the printer to power before software operation begins.

Why the recommended specs matter: xTool says the minimum configuration can run Studio's basic functions, but complex files—such as very large bitmaps or SVGs over roughly 1 MB—may be noticeably slower to import and edit.
How to Connect xTool Apparel Printer Plus to xTool Studio
The initial connection process is straightforward:
After installation, open the application and use Settings to select your preferred display language.
Connect one end of the supplied USB cable to the printer and the other to the computer.
Use the New Project control in the upper-right area of xTool Studio to begin the device workflow.
Do not proceed into production until Studio shows that the Apparel Printer Plus is successfully connected.
First-Time Calibration in xTool Studio
The first time the Apparel Printer Plus is connected to xTool Studio, calibration is required before production.
Studio guides the printer through three calibration stages:
Do not open the printer lid or disconnect xTool Studio while calibration is running. Allow all three stages to complete before removing the calibration film.
Step-by-step first calibration
1. When Studio displays the calibration window, click Start.
2. Close the printer lid and click Next.
3. Wait while camera calibration, nozzle detection and printhead calibration run.
4. When prompted, click Confirm and remove the film.
5. Complete the final confirmation before beginning a production project.
What if I skipped calibration?
Open the device menu using the three-dot control next to the printer image. Select Device settings → Calibration → Automatic calibration and click Calibrate.

Once calibration is complete, Studio can walk you through its built-in beginner tutorial.
This is the part of xTool's workflow that makes the Apparel Printer Plus more approachable for businesses that have not previously worked with standalone DTF RIP software.
How Do xTool Studio DTF RIP & Print Parameters Work?
xTool Studio includes the preparation tools needed to convert artwork into a printable Apparel Printer Plus job.
The default reference settings are optimized around xTool Selected DTF film. After selecting a design object, choose the appropriate parameters for that object before printing.
Critical rule: every printable object on the Studio canvas needs parameters assigned. xTool warns that an object without parameters may fail to print.
Parameter behavior can differ between bitmap images and vector artwork. Objects of the same type can be selected together when the same settings need to be applied to several designs.

Open the garment-preview window from the lower-right portion of Studio.
Choose the apparel type, such as a T-shirt or hoodie.
Set the print location along with garment size and color.
Confirm that the artwork looks appropriately sized before committing film and ink.
How to Send an Apparel Printer Plus Job to Print
Once the artwork, parameters and mockup are ready, click Print in xTool Studio.
Studio also provides two useful production options next to the Print control.
Export printing file (.prx)
Saves the processed print file locally. The `.prx` file can be placed on a USB flash drive or stored in My Space for later processing without repeating the slicing/preparation step.
Upload before print
Uploads the complete prepared file to the printer before production begins. xTool recommends this option when the network may be unstable because it reduces the chance of a transfer interruption during printing.
When printing is complete, retrieve the film from the printer. With the OS1 Automatic Shaker Oven connected, the surrounding DTF finishing workflow can continue through the automated powdering and curing system.
What Can You Monitor in xTool Studio?
Studio isn't only a job-preparation program. The Device Settings area also acts as a live information panel for the Apparel Printer Plus.
Click the three-dot menu beside the printer image → Device settings to access the controls.
Monitor each ink tank and refill when Studio reports an insufficient level.
View current internal environmental readings from the printer.
Monitor moisturizing liquid and waste-ink status.
See processing time, powered-on time and total processed-job count.
Track total blade cuts to help manage consumable wear.
Save the printer work log when troubleshooting with technical support.
Operational Settings Available in Studio
Automatic cutting
Automatic film cutting is enabled by default. If the Apparel Printer Plus is connected to an OS1, xTool says the film will cut automatically regardless of this individual setting.
Nozzle compensation
When enabled, Studio can compensate for a clogged or malfunctioning nozzle by adjusting the inkjet algorithm to use adjacent working nozzles.
Wiping reminder
Sets the reminder interval for printhead/nozzle wiping. xTool currently lists 3 days as the default.
Replacement reminder
Sets a reminder for replacement of consumable parts such as the ink damper. The current default listed by xTool is 120 days.
Email push notifications
When enabled, xTool can send exception alerts such as low ink or insufficient film so an operator does not need to remain directly beside the printer.
Automatic & manual calibration
The Calibration tab provides automatic calibration for standard setup and manual calibration when finer adjustment is required.

Before assuming a printing problem is mechanical, check the software connection and device-status information available inside Studio.
Apparel Printer Plus does not appear in Studio
Confirm that the USB cable is connected directly, the printer has completed its LCD setup, the printer is powered on and the current Studio version is installed.
The print button is available but an object does not print
Check that a processing parameter has been assigned to every printable object on the canvas. xTool specifically warns that objects without parameters may fail to print.
Large artwork is slow to import or edit
Compare the computer with xTool's recommended 16 GB RAM / i5-11600-class configuration and optimize excessively large artwork files when practical.
Printing stops during network transfer
Consider enabling Upload before print so the complete prepared file reaches the printer before production begins.
Print alignment or output looks wrong
Use the Device Settings calibration controls to run automatic calibration, then verify nozzle status and print parameters before making manual adjustments.
